This is my version of Harley Quinn’s portrait !
My goal was to highlight her madness and her mischievous, almost insolent side. She is caught in the glare of a police spotlight, yet she defies it with a sardonic smile. For her, it is obviously just a game.
She always seems to be in control of the situation, standing in her own universe, made of scattered playing cards. Despite all that, I also wanted to show her more vulnerable side, hidden behind her tormented mind, through the stylization of her face and expression. I wanted to represent her in her classic costume from the comics, inspired by the traditional Harlequin.
For this project, I worked on the character’s sculpt to create a more realistic version of Harley using ZBrush and Maya. I also really enjoyed working on the texturing in Substance 3D Painter! I focused on the different materials: the leather look of her jumpsuit, the lace of her neck ruff, and the rough wooden texture of her intimidating hammer.
I also had a lot of fun creating the concept art for this project (last image)! Although the original concept was darker and made Harley appear more intimidating, I decided to create a warmer atmosphere in the 3D version to make her feel a little less threatening and reveal more of her playful side.
